SMALL SCALE COMPOUNDING
Small scale compounding of new polymer/polymer blend formulation, preparation of the testing sample, and characterization of the compound's properties
Failure Analysis
Conducting failure analysis of polymer product by executing a systematic method to rectify the root cause of the problem so probable solution could be provided
SMALL SCALE COMPOUNDING
The growing demands on lightweight material, more robust, low VOC emission parts, more environmentally friendly products and with the intention of reducing the raw material cost has forcing the polymer industry player to produce new and innovative polymer/polymer blends formulation. In any phase of the polymer R&D process, polymer material and compound production takes place in order to manufacture materials with different properties to the base material or to produce material with desirable characteristics, utilising different additives.
At POLIMERA, our experts can assist you to execute small scale compounding trial run using our single screw extrusion or internal mixer that will avoid using manufacturing scale extruder. Approximately 3-8 kg of raw materials is sufficient to support a common R & D testing and characterization of the newly formulated compound. Typical additives including flame retardants, talc, glass, pro-oxidant or fillers/fibre can be added to alter optical or mechanical properties. The compound can be produced in the form of pellet for further processing. Our in-house experts will also assist in sample preparation, testing and characterization of the compound to determine the mechanical, thermal, flammability, durability, service performance of the material using simulation software or any other specific test if required.

FAILURE ANALYSIS
Product failure of plastic material may occur at any time thus the understanding why a polymer product has failed requires extensive knowledge and a clear insight of the relationship between the characteristic of polymer with the processing condition, product design, and the particular service environments.
At POLIMERA, our experts will apply a systematic approach of failure analysis with the primary goal of identifying the root cause of the failure and provide probable solutions for failure-related problems. Our team consist of industrial back group personnel and polymer scientist that are well-versed in rectifying the structural defects, moulding complications, product design failure, wrong choice of material selection or improper setting of parameter profile.
